Tuesday, December 29th, 2009
To make basic lasagna, one of the first things that you should know about Italian lasagna recipes is authentic Italian lasagna will call for simple, béchamel sauce, in addition to shredded cheese and ricotta cheese. When choosing a lasagna noodle, know that it really doesn’t matter what type of a lasagna noodle you use, the layering process is going to be the same regardless. Ideally you really should use a 13-by-9-inch metal, glass or ceramic pan so that your sheets of lasagna can easily rest against the corners of your pan. It is also helpful to grease the bottom of your pan using a cooking spray or olive oil. Have several cups of your favorite homemade spaghetti sauce or ready-made spaghetti sauce or something in between. When making a meat lasagna, ground beef and/or ground Italian sausage work well.
Wine and Umbria, Italy

Getting to know Italy means not only getting to know the well-known and common cities, towns, popular places, and attractions, but also some of the lesser known ones. One of these places is Umbria. It is a somewhat isolated area that lies directly in the middle of Italy. This makes it the only area in Italy that is not a seacoast and does not have a foreign neighbor. The gentle countryside is composed of hills, valleys, and small mountains. There are also lakes, rivers, and a waterfall located in this area. One of the attractions in the Umbria area is the churches that you will find interspersed throughout Umbria that date back to the medieval times. It addition there are the great tastes of the local cuisine, which is absolutely fabulous, and some very fine wines, too.
