Celebrations Made Easy

Celebrations Made EasyThere are lots of reasons to celebrate and throw a party. It can be for traditional reasons like graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and promotions or it can also be for non-traditional reasons like a good grade, new car, or passing a driver’s license test. To make the celebration easy, you can enjoy a dinner out or having some friends over. For larger milestones, more will be expected than a celebration for a passing grade. Both types of celebrations can be made easy with a little planning.

FOOD

Going out for dinner with a group is a good way to make the celebration easy. The restaurant staff will do all the preparation, cooking, and clean up. They will probably also have cake, which can be served with some fanfare as all wait staff gather around the table. To make it a little more special you can have balloons at the table and if it is a female, you can present her with some flowers (depending on the occasion). The cards and gifts can be opened at home or at the restaurant.

For larger gatherings or celebrations that will take place at home, you can buy ready made dishes, order ahead for takeout, or have the event catered. Most restaurants that offer catering will offer everything from you picking up the food and serving it yourself to not only serving the food, but bring all equipment, plates, utensils, and anything else you need to feed your guests.

Another way to make a celebration easy is to have a potluck where everyone brings food. The host and hostess can provide the main dish  and cake, with the guests bringing the sides and drinks. There can be a theme for the type of food that is brought, like an Italian food theme. The host and hostess can get a couple large pans of lasagna or other Italian dish from an Italian restaurant that has catering services.

DECORATIONS

Balloons and a sign can make a room look festive and celebratory. To keep it easy, decorate around the table where the food is served and maybe the front door. When buying plates and napkins, pick napkins with the appropriate print and buy complimentary solid color plates, cups, and utensils to make it easy. A table cover and sign that match the napkin design is a nice plus. Otherwise have the tablecloth in a contrasting, but matching color as the plates will work.

Homemade decorations and signs are appropriate for the non-traditional and simple celebrations. Stick with the decoration sets for the very special occasions like milestone anniversaries.

INVITATIONS

Call or use email to invite people to keep it simple. Call during work hours or other time that the person is unlikely to answer the phone so that you don’t get stuck on the phone. This will make inviting guests to the celebration easy. Texting can also be used when appropriate, like for very casual celebrations. Request people respond to the email, voice message, or text to let you know they got the invitation. Have a printed out list to keep track of who is and is not coming to make sure you have enough food for the celebration.

PLATES, CUPS, FORKS, ETC

Only buy paper, plastic, or other disposable material. It will make clean up faster. It may seem easy at the end of a celebration to put everything in the dishwasher, but chances are it won’t all fit and then there is still the chore of putting everything away. An extra trip outside to the trashcan is much easier.

When possible serve all food in disposable foil pans. They come in a variety of sizes and depths and will even work well to serve chips from. To make easier yet, leave the chips in the bag!

CASUAL

To make the celebration easy for you and for your guests keep things casual by telling guests that they can come as they are. The idea of dressing up for an event or needing to change is enough to make some people skip the celebration. In addition it may not be easy to get yourself ready before the celebration while you are getting everything set up.

When you live in the Miami, Florida area you can have your celebration dinner at Mama Jennie’s Italian Restaurant. They can also provide take out food and catering for your celebration.
