The foods that these feasts include are simple, vibrant, and healthy ingredients. Italian meals can include everything from roasts to risotto, pastas to preserves, and soups to sauces. These foods are popular throughout the year, so it is no wonder that they have become well known and well loved. Italian meals are created worldwide. The basics of Italian food are pretty simple.

ITALIAN FOOD INGREDIENTS

Some of the main ingredients that are used in Italian cooking include olive oil, pasta, red wine, and tomatoes. Studies have shown that these foods can actually contribute to a person’s healthy lifestyle. Of course, in order for this food to be vibrant, it is important to use the right balance of ingredients in your recipes. While there are some essential ingredients that every good, Italian kitchen should have (basil, garlic, and olive oil just to name a few), the most important ingredient to a delicious Italian dish is the cook’s creativity. This is why you will find such a wide variation in the Italian dishes that you enjoy. Since traditions have been handed down from generation to generation, over the years, changes are likely to occur. However, the one thing that will never change is that these meals are associated with country living and originate with natural ingredients that were harvested by the cook and his or her family.

PASTA AND ITALIAN DISHES

For some in the United States, the term “spaghetti” refers to all types of pasta. When it comes to Italian cooking, spaghetti is just one of may types of pasta. In Southern Italy pasta and olive oil undoubtedly has a large role in traditional, Italian food. However, in Northern Italy there is more of a focus on rice and butter. Regardless of where you are in Italy though, one thing is for certain: Italian food is about the combination of delicious pastas with local flavors, simple sauces, and cheeses like Parmesan, Romano, and Mozzarella.

COOKING ITALIAN FOOD

There is one very simple principle behind Italian food that has been passed down with the food itself: Italian food is best whenever it is freshly cooked and in season. Regional cooking depends upon numerous historical factors and not just upon what ingredients are the most fresh and abundant. This is why the recipes and ways of cooking are so different in Northern and Southern Italy. One way in which this can be seen is the fact that it is too cold to grow olive trees throughout much of Northern Italy and that is why butter is traditionally usually used in Italian cooking instead of olive oil.

Somebody once said, “The trouble with eating Italian food is that five or six days later you are hungry again.” Italian food is healthy and satisfying, no wonder it is considered the most popular cuisine in the world. Italian food can be made at home or eaten in Italian restaurants like Mama Jennie’s in South Florida.
